Do you guide people through Kenya’s history while bringing African voices, local knowledge and overlooked stories into the conversation? Daraja Maarifa is looking for freelance historical tour guides who take a decolonial approach and would like to work with us.
We are developing historical and cultural journeys that connect places with the lives, decisions and struggles that shaped them. We want our clients to explore Kenya through guides who know their subject, engage critically with historical accounts and make space for meaningful conversation.
Bring your knowledge of Kenya’s places and people
Your expertise might lie in colonial buildings, mission schools, sacred landscapes or the history of a particular town. You might guide visitors through agricultural landscapes, railway routes or fishing communities, explaining their connections to land, labour and ecological change.
We are interested in histories of education, religion, spirituality, women’s work, resistance, language and cultural memory. We welcome.
