Who Are We Looking For?

We are always looking for passionate freelancers to join our growing network and grow with us.

Kenyan School Teachers
Qualified Kenyan teachers who can provide live online tuition to primary and secondary school learners following Kenya’s national curriculum.
We welcome teachers across different grades and school subjects.

African-Language Educators
Experienced language teachers and facilitators who can teach African languages to adults online or in person.
Our first programmes will include Kiswahili and Shona, with additional languages introduced as the network grows.

Historians and Heritage Practitioners
Historians, researchers, storytellers and cultural practitioners who can help participants encounter African histories and heritage through informed, engaging and locally grounded perspectives.

Tour and Cultural Guides
Professional guides with strong knowledge of particular places, communities, historical sites or cultural traditions.
We are especially interested in guides who can move beyond conventional sightseeing and help participants understand the deeper histories connected to a place.

How It Works

1. Create your professional profile
Tell us about your qualifications, specialist knowledge, professional experience, location, languages and availability.

2. Join our network
Your details will be reviewed and, where appropriate, added to the Daraja Maarifa professional network.

3. Hear about suitable opportunities
When a programme matches your expertise, we may contact you to discuss the assignment, dates, responsibilities and freelance fee.
Registration does not guarantee an immediate assignment or create an employment relationship. Each opportunity will be discussed and agreed separately.
